What to Expect During Breast Augmentation

First, you will have a consultation with our experienced, fellowship-trained plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and expectations and to confirm that you are a good candidate for breast augmentation. There are multiple techniques for breast augmentation that will be reviewed at the time of your consultation with the plastic surgeon.

The procedure takes one hour under general anaesthesia, allowing you to return home on the same day. A breast lift may be performed in conjunction with breast augmentation.

Incisions are made to keep scars as inconspicuous as possible, in the breast crease, around the nipple, or in the armpit. Breast tissue and skin are lifted to create a pocket for each implant. The breast implant may be inserted directly under the breast tissue or beneath the chest wall muscle. After surgery, breasts appear fuller and more natural in tone and contour. Scars will fade with time.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

You can expect approximately one week of recovery time, which will include some swelling and tenderness. You will need to wear a special support bra for several weeks after the procedure to ensure optimal implant positioning. You should also avoid heavy lifting for at least three weeks post-surgery.
